Another Anamorphosis 3D Street Art

You might find this hard to believe but I don't always completely  know how to do the projects I assign. Case in point, Anamorphosis 3D Street Art. However, working together on a project, through trial and error, Apex Art has learned how to create some very cool art.

Today, we started working on several sidewalk chalk drawings that incorporate the concept of  anamorphosis. The idea is that if viewed from a certain perspective, the object being drawn looks 3Dish.

First step was to create a distorted image using PhotoShop. Those images were placed on a grid and printed so we would have a road map to work from. Next, we created the grid using 20" square boards as guides.

The grid helps with transferring such a large image. This way the artist only needs to concentrate on one small area at a time.

From this view you can see how distorted the dolphin is.

As the viewer moves back, the image comes into perspective.
